Blessed Marcel Callo
I was born on 6 December, 1921, in France. We were nine children. I was a happy child and I helped my family with the household chores. I was also stubborn. At the age of thirteen I became apprentice to a printer. I had a good sense of humour and had many hobbies. The Second World War changed my life. When I was 20, I fell in love with Marguerite Derniaux. On 8 March, 1943, I experienced a deep sorrow, because my sister was killed by one of the bombs thrown on Rennes. I was deported to Zella-Mehlis in Germany for forced labour. I worked there but I missed my family and going to Mass, so I became depressed. After some months I found hope again when I could finally assist in Mass. I was imprisoned by the Germans because of my Catholic activities. I suffered a lot, but I never complained and helped my companions to keep faith. I died on 19 March, 1945.
