Saint Charles Lwanga

I was born in Uganda, in Africa. I and other boys were required to work for the king of this country, named Mwanga. He was an evil man who treated his people harshly. I and my friends learned about Christianity from the 'White Fathers', the Missionaries of Africa, who came to Uganda to preach the Gospel. We learned about Jesus and asked for baptism. In this way, we became followers of Jesus Christ. I began to teach other people about Christianity. The king became angry about Christianity, and ordered the arrest of me and my friends. We were burned to death after walking 37 miles to the place of execution. I died together with 21 martyrs of Uganda.
