Saint Maria Goretti

I was born in Italy in the year 1890 in a hard working farmer's family. As I grew older, I kept watch on the  household and watched after my youngest sister. One day, when I was eleven years old, I was doing some sewing work in the porch of our house, while my family was in the fields. Suddenly, our neighbour Alessandro appeared. When he noticed I was alone, he tried to rape me. I struggled greatly and refused firmly as I wanted to keep my chastity. When he realised he could not get what he came for, he stabbed me fourteen times with a knife. I died the next day as a direct result of my wounds, but not before telling my mother that I had forgiven my attacker.
