Saint Nunzio Sulprizio

I was born in Italy, in 1817. My father died when I was three years old. My mother married again, but my stepfather did not pay attention to me. I attended Mass regularly and read the life of the Saints. After my mother’s death, I lived with my grandmother. She encouraged me to stay firm in my faith. When she died, I had to move again, but this time I was less fortunate. I started to live and work for my uncle Domenico. He was a cruel man who beat me when he was not satisfied with the work. I became very ill, and although I was treated in a hospital there was little hope. I offered my pain to God. I died at the age of nineteen.
