Saint Thomas More

"I was born in London in 1478. After studying in Oxford and London, I became a lawyer and a member of the English parliament. Due to my manners, I was a tutor for the future King Henry VIII when he was young. In 1529, I was appointed the Lord Chancellor of England. I was married and had four children. Since there were, disagreements between the Pope and King Henry, the King decided to separate the Church of England from the Catholic Church of Rome. Henry demanded all the bishops in England and his entire government to sign the oath. I refused and as a consequence, I was arrested and imprisoned in the Tower of London. I was sentenced to death for treason against the king and beheaded in 1535. "
