Saint Vincent

I was born in Huesca, near Saragossa, Spain in the third century. I studied a lot and was ordained a deacon by the bishop of Saragossa. I served as his spokesman as he suffered from a speech impediment. Later in my life, Christians were being persecuated once more. My bishop and I were taken before the Roman prefect, who ordered our imprisonment. I was to be released once I burned the Scriptures. I adamantly refused to do so. I was ready to suffer for my faith if that was required of me. As a result, I experienced every sort of terrible torture. At the end my body was thrown to the sea, but my followers recovered it later. My veneration spread quickly in the Church.
