Servant of God Henry Dormer

I was born in Warwickshire, England in 1844. I studied in Ireland and after my studies I made a retreat with Doninican Father Rudolph Suffield, which was very important for my life of faith. Living in Canada as a military man, I led a life of selfless devotion to God, attending to the needs of poor, sick and elderly people. I gave them money, clothing, food and my time. I also gave religious instructions to children and soldiers. Meanwhile, I was wrestling with the question of my desire to become a priest. I became sick with typhoid fever. I died on 2 October, 1866, just as I had decided to enter the Dominican novitiate.
