Venerable Fulton Sheen
I was born in 1895 in Illinois, United States of America. I studied to become a priest in Minnesota. After I was ordained a priest, I studied in Washington D.C, Belgium and Italy. I taught at the Catholic University of America. I went on to become one of the biggest single Catholic presences on radio and TV in the 20th century. I began my broadcasting career hosting the Catholic Hour program on NBC Radio. My first programme was in 1951, the same year I became a bishop. I was active on radio, and later also on TV. Furthermore, I had numerous speaking engagements around the world, and wrote 73 books about catechism and Christianity. I was a gifted speaker with a great sense of humor and during my shows I combined religion, humor and philosophy into a great 30-minute programme. I died in 1979 in New York.
