Saint Raphael the Archangel

I am one of the Archangels who stand before the throne of God in heaven. My name means “God heals”. Referring to myself as “Azarias, the son of the Great Ananias”, I travelled together with Tobit’s son, Tobias. At the end of the journey I told Tobias that I was sent by the Lord to heal his father's blindness and deliver his future wife, Sarah, from the demon Asmodeus. That is why I am called a healer. You may remember the passage in the Gospel of John speaking of the pool at Bethesda: some say that I was the angel who descended to heal there from time to time (John 5:1-15).
